New Earswick Swimming Club was founded in 1967 and since then has taught hundreds of children to swim, some of which reached County, Regional or National standard. All our teachers and coaches are ASA qualified and the Club has ASA Swim 21 Accreditation at Skill Development level.

The club is operated entirely by a volunteer workforce, and for this reason alone New Earswick Swimming Club continues to offer low cost aquatic activities to habitants of the surrounding areas.

Statement regarding the closure of New Earswick Pool

Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) who own/manage New Earswick pool, have written to all pool users (including NESC) to inform us that they will be closing the pool permanently at the end of March 2018.

The reasons given is that pool has "...significant financial, structural and operational challenges" which has meant that JRHT "...have had to look at the long term options for the facility and site..."

Clearly this is upsetting/worrying news for NESC as well as the other pool users.  We are seeking an urgent meeting with the Trust.

In the mean time, we are contacting all other pools within the York area to see what pool time is available.

Once we have met with the Trust and are clear on what options are available to us at other pools then we will issue another statement.
